Minutes – Surfrider Meeting – June 6, 2006

Held at Walt and Jackie’s. 5:30pm

Present – Walt, Jackie, Victoria, Andy, Angela, Jack and Bea Coulombe, Julie.

Minutes of last meeting approved.

Membership Coordinator – Bill Cull has informed our group that he will resign this position. Julie Rogers will consider taking over the spot.

Committee Reports:

Blue Water Task Force – Jack Coulombe and Jackie. Testing has begun for the year 06. No results have been posted.

Coastal Access and Enhancement – (Virgin Creek) property is for sale. (MacKerricher) – Outflow has stopped but channel remains open. We’ll see what happens next fall.

Old Business:

Web page – Andy- Officers were asked to contribute photos and a biography to post on website. (Walt, Jackie , Victoria, Bob and Jack).

International Surfing Day – June 21, 2006. Held at Big River Beach. 3:00 to 7:00. There will be an optional paddle out at 6:00. Bring a picnic dinner. There will be doorprizes.

New Business:

Shelter Cove – John Wolcheck is requesting our assistance in the jetty project.

Scholarship ; Walt suggests any surplus cash to start a program.

Mendocino County Environmental Health and Water Quality – Reviewed letter written by Bob Whitney regarding the sewage spill dumped into Virgin Creek from the broken pipe which serves Mackerricher State Park campground.

Next Meeting: Tuesday, August 22, 5:30 pm at Julie and Rodney’s house. Pot luck bring a dish.
