River Beach to celebrate Surfing and do a beach
cleanup. The waves were small but that did not
dilute any enthusiasm. Annual Global Celebration of the Sport of
Surfing and Beach Environments takes place on June
21st. Call it a day to give thanks, get wet and go
surfing; International Surfing Day returns this
June 21st. Founded in 2005, International Surfing Day was
created to allow surfers and other wave riding
enthusiasts to come together in a global
celebration of surfing. Whether you are a novice or
a pro, shortboarder or longboarder, grom or
granddad, this is the day for surfers worldwide to
wax up, paddle out and catch a wave. International
Surfing Day also provides surfers with an
opportunity to give thanks to Mother Nature for
providing us these waves by giving something back,
so once again the Surfrider Foundation will be
hosting beach clean-up events across the
country. June 21st is the longest day of the year,
so theres no reason to get out there, get wet
and then give something back, says Matt
McClain, Surfrider Foundation spokesperson. winter
